Foster – 1916 – Built in 1916, by Hoskin Foster, a banker in Galveston. This was a summer home originally but the family soon moved to Dickinson year round. Joseph and Delia Mares bought the house in 1947. The Mares were prominent, wealthy Dickinsonians and endowed Dickinson’s Public Library. When Mrs. Mares died, the house was given to Armand Bayou Nature Center, who eventually sold it to the current owners, Georganna and Joe Tapley. The front of the property was sold to a developer who built six houses and it is now given the address of 3718 Roylene Court.
